The Museum, named Opium War museum、the
Lin Zexu Memorial in Humen、 Sea Battle Museum, is located
in Hemen town,Dongguan city,Guangdong province. It is
a museum of historical sites and special subject. The
Site of the Pits where Lin Zexu had opium destroyed and
The Ruin Site of Humen batteries, under its administration
are important historical relic units under state protection,
with 800 thousands square meters. They are the witness
of the history.
The Opium War Museum was built in 1957 and was first named
“Lin Zuxu Memorial”. It was renamed “Anti-British Memorial
for Humen People in Opium War” in 1972 and was later denominated
as “Lin Zexu Memorial in Humen” in 1985. Finally we named
it “the Opium War Museum”, for the management of the ruins.
We founded the Shajiao Batteries administrative office
in Jul. 1987 and Weiyuan Batteries administrative office
and Jan. 1988, which respectively administer the The Ruin
Sites of Shajiao and Weiyuan Batteries. The Sea Battle
Museum was opened for public in Dec. 1999.
The responsibilities of the Museum are to collect, research
and display the historical materials of the event that
Lin Zexu had opium destroyed and Opium War, and protect
the related cultural relics of the Pits Ruin Site where
Lin Zexu had opium destroyed and The Ruin Site of Humen
batteries, which were used to hold activities about patriotism
education for people.
The basic exhibitions of the museum are “Display of the
opium prohibition and history of Opium War”, “The exhibition
on Sea Battle during the Opium War” and “Half view painting
of Sea Battle at Humen”.
Lin Zexu Memorial in Humen lies in the Zhenkou community of Humen town ,within which the Pits Ruin Site where Lin Zexu had opium destroyed is the historical relic of opium destroyed in 1839.It includes gateway、exhibition building、group statues of anti-British、Lin Zexu’s bronze、Humen monument for opium destroyed、Anti-British cannon and so on ，which builds the strong historic atmosphere...
